Mr. Daniel S. Strodel

Dan joined HFS in January 2009 and serves as Managing Director for the firm. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1983 with an emphasis in finance and accounting.

Dan began his career in the Texas banking industry with Mercantile Bank as a commercial real estate lender in 1983. He served as Manager of the Private Client Group for Compass Bank from 1997-1999. From 1999-2008, Dan served as EVP/Manager of the Private Client Group of Texas Capital Bank and member of the overall bank’s management team. He most recently was President of Pegasus Bank. In addition to significant leadership and management responsibilities, Dan’s banking career focused on commercial real estate loan origination, structuring and administration, business development and marketing strategies, private client services including entrepreneurial lending, investment management and trust services. Dan has worked with families, entrepreneurs, real estate investors and oil and gas investors as an advisor in all areas of personal and business decision making.


Mr. John T. Howard

John joined HFS in April 2003 and serves as Director of Investments. He is responsible for overseeing investment activities of the firm including investment research, due diligence, portfolio construction and management of HFS proprietary products.

John graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration. Prior to joining HFS, John worked for Deutsche Bank Alex Brown where he worked with institutional, corporate and high net worth clients.


Mr. James N. Howard | CPA/PFS

Jim is the founder of Howard & Co., LLP, a full service accounting practice, and Howard Financial Services, Ltd. Jim received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin University in 1970. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Texas and holds the Personal Financial Specialist accreditation sponsored by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Jim consults with individual and corporate clients on a broad range of business issues: taxation, including transaction structuring for income and estate tax planning; business ownership, including structuring of corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships and non-profit organizations; and personal financial goals and strategies.

Jim offers significant depth of experience in restructuring debt with financial institutions, in bankruptcies and in other situations. He is frequently in civil litigation and criminal tax matters. During nearly 40 years in public accounting, he has worked with clients from most major industries, with emphasis in real estate and oil and gas.


mrs. theresa stuteville | CPA/PFS

Theresa assisted in the founding of Howard Financial Services, Ltd in 1994 and currently serves as the company’s Director of Compliance. Prior to the founding of HFS, Theresa was a key member of Howard & Co., LLP’s Tax and Audit teams for seven years. She began her public accounting career with BDO Seidman, LLP where she was a Senior Manager. She received her Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the American Institute of CPA’s in 1993 and is currently a NAPFA register advisor (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors)

As Chief Compliance Officer she is responsible for the firm’s adherence to securities regulations under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. In addition to her compliance duties Theresa consults with clients on issues involving personal finances. This includes such issues as goal setting, cash flow analysis, risk management, tax and estate planning, retirement and accumulation funding, as well as investment advice and monitoring. Theresa is also trained as a financial neutral in Collaborative Law.

Theresa received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A & M University and is currently a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, Texas Society of CPA’s, Dallas Estate Planning Council, Financial Planning Association and the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas.


mrs. lisa capasso

Lisa joined our sister company Howard & Co., LLP in 2001 and transitioned to Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in 2004.  She is responsible for the financial accounting for HFS proprietary products.  She also prepares financial compilations for clients as well as administering payroll.


Mr. Derek Childs

Derek graduated with Honors from Texas Tech University in May of 2009 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning. He interned at Howard Financial Services, Ltd. for the summer and joined the practice full-time in August of 2009.

Derek will sit for the Certified Financial Planner® exam in March of 2010.


mr. shaun dowling

Shaun joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd. full-time in December 2007 after interning with the company during the summer of 2007. He assists clients with planning for retirement and education expenses, analyzing cash flow needs, investing, risk management, as well as estate and tax planning.

Shaun has a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University in Personal Financial Planning. He is a candidate for CFP® Certification.


mrs. allison geiger | CFP®

Allison joined the firm in 2002 as an individual taxation specialist.  She assists clients with their financial goals through retirement and tax planning, risk management, and cash flow analysis.

Prior to joining the firm, Allison served as an international tax consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, a global accounting firm, preparing expatriate and foreign national tax returns.  Allison has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Minor in Spanish from Texas A & M University, and she is active in various community organizations. Allison is a CFP® Practitioner.


Mrs. Lylianne Herpers, CA

Lylianne began her public accounting career at Clarkson Gordon Co., Toronto, Canada (Now Ernst & Young International) where she was a Senior Audit Manager. She then became General Manager and CFO of an international importing company, a client of Clarkson Gordon Co. She has also performed accounting services for several privately-owned companies.

Lylianne joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in June 2007. She is responsible for the financial accounting of HFS proprietary products.

Lylianne has a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature from York University in Toronto, Canada.  She also received her Chartered Accountant designation in Toronto, Canada.


Mr. Jeremy Hudson | CFP®

Jeremy is member of our wealth management team and helps clients address all aspects of their personal financial planning needs. He is a Certified Financial Planner™ Practitioner and is also a NAPFA registered financial advisor.

Jeremy spent over five years with an independent financial planning and asset management firm located in Little Silver, New Jersey, prior to joining Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in January of 2006.

Jeremy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning from Texas Tech University in August of 2000.


ms. terry ishmael

Terry joined our sister company Howard & Co., LLP in 1993 and transitioned to Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in 1996.  She serves as an administrative professional in charge of client communications and support operations.  Terry received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technologies from American Intercontinental University in 2002.


Mr. Isreal Miller | J.D., LL.M., CPA/PFS, CFP®

Isreal joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in June 2005 after working for Sullivan, Bruyette, Speros & Blayney, Inc. (now Harris SBSB™), a financial planning firm in McLean, Virginia.  Previously, he clerked with the Internal Revenue Service's Estate and Gift Tax Group in Dallas.

Isreal has Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Anthropology with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin; a Master of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University; and a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from Southern Methodist University.  He is a licensed attorney in Texas and Washington, D.C. and currently serves as in-house counsel.  Isreal is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Texas and holds the Personal Financial Specialist credential from The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.   Isreal is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner.


Mr. Ross Morgan | MBA/CFP®

Ross joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in 2004.  He consults with clients on their financial goals by advising on investments, risk management, and cash flow needs.  Furthermore, he advises on retirement funding as well as trust and estate planning.

Ross has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A & M University and a Masters in Business Administration from Rice University.  Prior to joining the firm, Ross worked for Credit Suisse First Boston, a major Wall Street investment bank, in the Private Client Services department where he managed accounts for high net worth clients and foundations.  Ross is a CFP® Practitioner.


Mr. Jeff Royce

Jeff joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd in August 2009. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of New Hampshire in Durham, New Hampshire.

Jeff began his career in Boston, Massachusetts, in the mutual funds division of State Street Corporation, the world’s leading provider of financial services to Institutional investors. Jeff quickly attained the position of Account Manager, where he specialized in custody mergers, team building, and process improvement. After relocating to Dallas in 2005, Jeff joined a Dallas area investment advisory firm as the Vice President of Operations. While there, he brought about technological and process improvements allowing the firm to reach operational objectives and increase capacity.


Mr. William C. Sager

Will joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in September 2008 after interning with the company during the summer. He performs investment research and due diligence on investment products available to HFS clients. Additionally, he assists in the management of HFS proprietary products.

Will graduated with Honors from Texas Christian University in 2007 with Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Finance and Accounting as well as a certification in Ranch Management. He passed Level III of the Chartered Financial Analyst® Program in the summer of 2009 and is currently awaiting his charter designation.


Mr. Harry Ward | CFA®, CAIA℠

Harry joined Howard Financial Services, Ltd. in April 2006.  He performs investment research and due diligence on investment products available to HFS clients.  Prior to joining the firm, he worked with a registered investment advisory group specializing in alternative investments. 

Harry has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science in Financial Markets from Illinois Institute of Technology. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst® designations.
